CentraCom Begins Fiber Upgrade in Santaquin, Utah with High-Tech Micro-Trenching
Fairview, UT | June 16, 2025 – CentraCom has officially begun construction on a major infrastructure upgrade in Santaquin, Utah, replacing the city’s aging cable-modem internet with state-of-the-art fiber service. This investment brings faster speeds, improved reliability, and greater digital capacity to homes and businesses throughout the city.
To deliver this upgrade with the least possible disruption to residents, CentraCom is using an advanced micro-trenching process—the first time this technology has been used in Santaquin. Unlike traditional construction methods, micro-trenching allows crews to install fiber using narrow, shallow cuts in the roadways or property lines, drastically reducing the impact to driveways, sidewalks, and landscaping.
“We know how important it is to respect the properties of the communities we serve,” said Brad Welch, Chief Operating Officer at CentraCom. “That’s why we’re investing in micro-trenching. It’s a more expensive construction process, but it helps us minimize damage and complete projects faster—while taking better care of Santaquin residents’ homes and neighborhoods.”
“Micro-trenching gives us the precision and control we need to install fiber with very little surface disruption,” added Brett Johnson, Construction Manager at CentraCom. “It’s clean, efficient, and ideal for residential areas where preserving curb appeal really matters.”
This citywide fiber project will roll out in phases, with construction already underway and service activations beginning soon. CentraCom plans to expand availability throughout Santaquin during 2025, giving more residents access to symmetrical multi-gigabit internet—ideal for remote work, streaming, online learning, gaming, and smart home integration.
“Our commitment to Santaquin is long-term,” said Nate Palmer, Vice President of Marketing. “We’re not just upgrading infrastructure—we’re building a better internet experience for this community, now and into the future.”
CentraCom will notify neighborhoods as service becomes available. To check availability or sign up for service, visit centracom.com/fiber.
