• 4K AND SMART TV’S: Do you have a 4K TV? To get the most of your TV, you need to have at least 25 Mbps for 4K streaming video.
• VIDEO STREAMING: Do you stream from Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime or YouTube TV? To stream video in standard definition, you need at least a 3 Mbps to 5Mbps (per device) for HD streaming you need 8 Mbps to 13 Mbps (per device), streaming on a smart TV or 4K TV can take up to 25 Mbps per TV.
• YOU USE YOUR SERVICE: If you have a 10 Mbps speed service, it is possible you would have trouble viewing a video on a Facebook feed if you are streaming video on one Smart TV.
• GAMING: Online gaming demands a faster “ping time” or responsiveness of your connection. This time is the rate that data (or information sent) travels from one server and back. To decrease your “ping time” or increase the speed your data respond, you need to have a faster upload and download speed of the internet connection. For the best gaming experience, you generally need at least a 20 to 50 Mbps service (which has a higher upload speed).

What is a good speed for a family of five (all with at least one device)? It depends on the way your family uses the internet. If you have five members all streaming video in different rooms, you may want to consider at least a 50 Mbps speed to allow everyone the same great experience. If you use the internet for some social media, emails and homework only, a 20 Mbps service would be enough speed for your needs.
